Neurogenic bladder dysfunction, a hidden complication of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), presents as one of the most difficult challenges for patients. Unfortunately, the use of catheters and urinary bags, which are often necessary to manage this condition, can have detrimental effects on one’s health and self-confidence due to appearance, odour, ongoing issues and changes in body image.
Streamline products provide better bladder management options enabling patients to regain control and independence over their bladder function. In this three-part project, I have focused on a complete redesign of the indwelling system, with a particular emphasis on improving the catheters design, enhancing the user-experience of the catheter valve, and addressing issues related to odour from the leg bag.

Product Sketching
Produced during my concept phase of how the handle / valve might look.
Other sketches include how the tip of a medical device catheter might look and how liquid pressure might enter the device depending on shape.
Shapes and layering of injection moulding were also considered when designing the shape of the handle.
